My Teddy had surgery on his left hind leg to mend a grade 4 Luxating patella at 10 months old, and a few months later developed the same condition on his left leg.Although Ted recovered well and appeared to cope better with the condition in his right leg, I didn't realise he had learned to compensate for his condition and pain throughout his body, changing his gait and posture.
I learned this from Sarah, who started treating ted with canine massage therapy a couple of years later. She took the time to explain where and why Ted was experiencing pain, with how she was massaging him and his behavioral reactions,
Sarah recorded his gait in slow motion videos before and after his treatments, so I could see the improvements. At the end of the sessions, Sarah showed me ways I could help Ted in between sessions with various exercises to stretch his tightest muscles.
I find Sarah to be extremely knowledgeable and more than happy to pass this knowledge on so you can better understand your dog and how he's feeling.
Sarah is extremely friendly and patient with people and dogs! Ted absolutely adores her and looks forward to his treatments when he sees her, now he's learned to associate Sarah with making him feel much more comfortable and happier in himself.
We have now started another course of regular treatments to prepare Ted for surgery on his right hind leg so the recovery process will be smoother and quicker, especially now he's a bit older and carrying a bit more weight.
Follow up treatments post-surgery will also ensure he continues to heal and learn to move straight again, for the first time in years.
Thank you again Sarah for your great work with Teddy.
